Description
Impeccable Attention to the Word is Crucial When Approaching the Path of Self Mastery
Stay safe on your spiritual journey by empowering yourself with the level of discernment and discrimination needed to make proper sense out of all the other spiritual books you will ever read.
A seminal piece of literature of particular importance to YIT students as the content is yoga-centric and designed to make you better teachers, but equally valid and crucial for the spiritual aspirant and seeker of higher knowledge in so far as it guides your perspective in the face of the vast array of opinion pieces available today and will help you to decipher the wheat among all the chaff.
A big problem with the spiritual genre today is that it’s so hard to determine which sources are factual and which are plain woo-woo. Even when reading classical source texts about Kundalini, energy artistry, Yoga, the soul, karma, reincarnation, healing, etc, often times ancient writings have been translated with the bias of the author and meanings differ from book to book. So how do you make sure that what you’re reading is legit and will actually help you on your journey, not just confuse you further? Or worse, fill you with such misinformation that the journey becomes even more difficult than when you embarked in the first place.
Take shadow work for example. Many of the works available on the market today do not even make a passing reference to Carl Jung, the father of Shadow Work, or the lifetime of research he gave to the field but rather characterize the process as an inner child healing process only, leaving out so much crucial information. Or Yoga. Over 50 different translations exist for foundational material, each characterizing the mind differently, defining the journey differently, instructing differently. Or non-duality. The power of Now, as Eckart Tolle explains is different in its approach to the Now that Ram Dass encourages you to experience.
And sometimes this is good! Different flavors and artistry from different authors is what makes good literature valuable and, well, absolutely delicious! But it can be a major pitfall on the path, too, especially when an earnest seeker is looking for some solid answers to help them forward on their journey.
That’s why I’ve written this short book (70 pages) that highlights the need for impeccable discretion when approaching the teachings of higher knowledge. I originally wrote it with Yoga Teachers in mind, but later understood it to be invaluable for the student as well, if only to drive home the message that the words that teachers are using need to be examined with the utmost care. I wrote this with a deep desire to help empower people with an impeccable insight that might serve for a lifetime no matter the direction the journey takes you.
