The 10 Tantrik Yamas
Yama #1 of the Classical Yogic Tradition
Ahimsa: The Great Vow of Non-Violence
Inner Stillness, Radiant Compassion & the Foundations of Yoga Practice
What does non-violence mean beyond not lashing out physically—or indulging in self-defeating thought patterns? How does it become a living vow that shapes your inner world, nervous system, and way of being?
This first satsang in the Yamas series invites you into a sacred, multidimensional exploration of Ahimsa, the foundational restraint of yoga. Drawing from Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras, the Netra Tantra (Tantra of the Third Eye), and the Katha Upanishad, the class approaches Ahimsa not just as an ethical commitment, but as a path of returning to wholeness, clarity, and grace.
You’ll experience the yogic journey inward through Bhāvana (contemplative visualization), textual wisdom, and guided meditations, including powerful practices like Repose in the Silent Ground of Being and The Cave of the Heart. The session culminates in reflections on forgiveness, an unexpected and transformative insight that emerged naturally, offering a key to authentic healing and integration.

This was an amazing experience, all the energy of everyone doing this meditation together was magical. Everyone opened their heart and listened to David take us to a place I personally have never experienced before. The moment you find yourself in your heart center is just bliss. All I could see was a golden light. A ball and I was in the center. It looked like a ray of this silk gold light in the most intrinsic design I’ve ever seen and it was perfect. It was nothing but everything. Pure love.
I can not wait for the next one David Fox, you really are amazing at what you do! ❤️

The theme for this satsanga on non-violence (ahimsa) left me with many deep contemplations (bhavanas) on what non-violence means to me personally, as well as the profound idea of a great vow. I found myself reflecting on what freedom truly looks like in my life. The session beautifully balanced theory, drawing from sources like Patanjali, with an experiential element.
One of the highlights was a meditation on repose, guiding us into the silent ground and inviting us to explore the cave of the heart. This was a new and resonant concept for me, and for me symbolized as a beautiful rose quartz cave. I finished the meditation with feelings of intense gratitude, love, and beauty for my surroundings.
It was a wonderful experience meeting ‘good people’, and I’m eager to continue simmering on these contemplations for a while. Thoroughly enjoyable and thought-provoking—looking forward to the next session!

Revisited the meditation today, completely new take aways, if I thought the first time was tremendous, I absolutely loved this! The spec of glitter, I know now as the entrance to the heart cave… at one point, I was falling..fast! I dont know if was the transition from one meditaion to the other, I cant really recall now, but then nothing! Complete and utter blissful nothing, darkness, quiet… it was beautiful. I was just there, floating I this gorgeous nothingness, I was the silence, every now and then I would have a thought pop up or a song come into my head that would have me for a second pop back to reality (or from, depends on how we look at it) but I could move past it very quickly and just be free again. This was wonderful, thank you David Fox you have taken me to a whole new level ❤️
