Welcome to the ancient practice of Deity Yoga. During this course you will discover what a deity really is, and how to engage these primal forces through your practice.
Beginning with the foundations of the tradition, you will immediately embark on a journey of discovery, gaining clarity on the meanings of mantra and mudra (sacred chants and hand symbols), the non-dual view, and meditative engagements designed to bring you to a still point and activate your higher consciousness for the work to come.
This program will explore ancient texts like the Vijnana Bhairava Tantra, introduce deities of the eastern and western traditions, and explore the intricacies of dealing with energy patterns in order to overcome afflictions of mind, emotional reactivity, and ignorance. You will cultivate awareness and learn how to work with images, ritual and desire itself. You’ll learn how to incinerate self-limiting mind constructs, and rebuild those constructs into forms that serve your purpose.
We’ll take a broad look at the deities personified forms, examine the Yoga Sutras and what the sage Patanjali taught about the afflictions of mind in his Yoga Sutras, and dive into the Tibetan Tantric teaching of the Six Realms.
And finally you will learn how to approach your own personal deity affinity, and practice a guided meditation that will introduce you to the Tibetan Goddess of Healing and Nature, Green Tara.
