Description
The painting was made at the Pangong Tso, or Pangong Lake, in August 2013. Located in Ladakh on 4500 m above sea level, the lake borders between India and Tibet (China). I camped at Merak village and the scenery is South-West from my point of view. The last and darker mountain range appearing on the top of the painting behind the lake-shore including the snowy peak in the center-right is Tibet, and therefore it’s a “Tibet painting”. I couldn’t get closer to the actual border because it’s a military area.. Painting in the Himalayas is a physical challenge and one has to know how to transfer this generated raw energy while reaching there into a poem, a painting. The less of it appears the lighter and more transcendent the image becomes. High in the mountains it is a special place anyhow, There is so much sparkling light in the high altitude that the anatomy of the mountain shifts, it moves as the clouds, …and talks. May the effort and the audible silence be shared in happiness.
