I worship my daughter; I’ve worshipped her since the day she was born – since before she was born. I worship the innocence she is and represents. Through her I recall myself, the self – that self which is all of us, pure and innocent until death do we part from this body.
I worship the One God, the God of the old tribes, before that God was rolled up into the religions of this and that. I worship that principle of One, that binds everything and everyone. I call that, God, and worship that God in my heart.
I worship the deities, too; Nature Gods, representations of the many faces of Nature. Mother. I worship the sun and the rain. I worship the ground I walks on. The ground the holds us and gives to us. I worship the earth and the wind.
I worship the Self that sees this, the Self that knows this; and I would know this Self more. Truly this Self is the Lord, God, and the Lord, God, is the Self.
I squeeze and kiss my baby’s two feet with the deepest reverence for her being. I hold her in the highest esteem and truly know love and devotion when contemplating her. Through her, the whole miracle of life is revealed to me daily and I am consistently awestruck by her development. That I might be a worthy custodian, a good dad, an able guide, a healthy role model – these are my recent prayers.
