5 Minutes Late

Saturday, 21 March 2015 by David
Lord don’t let me be even 5 minutes late, for 5 minutes late is far too late. 5 minutes late in my realizations leads to 5 minutes late in my actions, which leads to 5 minutes late seeing the results and sometimes that’s just far too late. When He talks to me on the telephone,

Gita Upadesam: The Significance of Chariot Imagery

Friday, 03 October 2014 by David
Bhagavad Gita is central to the epic Mahabarata; and central to the Gita is the chariot driven by Krishna and Arjuna. The image is a pictorial metaphor for the human meta-psychology representing the inner instruments of mind and sense by which we guide our bodies through the life. The chariot is symbolic of the body, sarira in sanskRita. Jiva (the embodied individual soul) is represented by Arjuna, the passenger, while the position of charioteer is given to Lord Krishna who symbolizes the atma (often referred to as Self, higher intellect or Buddhi). He leads the chariot onto the battlefield (Kurukshetra), into the middle of two armies; on the one side are the Kauravas (the demonic nature) and on the other are the Pandavas (the divine nature).

Monday, 12 May 2014 by David
“Health is a dynamic state of complete physical, mental, spiritual and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.” W.H.O. 1998 The World Health Organization has since amended that definition, removing two words: dynamic and spiritual. Why? I can understand where the word spiritual might meet with socio-political resistance in some quarters, seeing as how it is a word which defies standard definition, but dynamic? That one seems rather cut and dry. Is it not commonly accepted that health is a dynamic state? I guess the physics, as tends to be the case, is not so cut and dried after all. Sanskrit, literally meaning ‘well-formed’, is often referred to as a perfect language. In Sanskrit, the word for ‘well-being’ is [sva-stha स्वस्थ][i].
